This month in 1787  Delegates appointed to the Constitutional Convention: James McClurg of  Virginia; Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania; Wm. Blount of N. Carolina; G. Washington of  Virginia; Robert Harrison, Charles Carroll, James McHenry, Thomas Sim Lee and Daniel of  St. Thomas Jenifer of Maryland.


4  1778 Congress (Continental) authorizes Washington to call for 5000 militias from Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.


6  1909 North Pole discovered by Comd.. Robert E. Peary. 

6  1917 United States entered World War I.


11 1713 Peace of Utrecht: ends Wars of Queen Anne; secures Protestant succession in England, separation of France from Spain.


15 1598 Huguenots (France) given equal rights with Catholics.
